Sustainable development is a shared responsibility of the university

As part of the “Winter School 2026” at Shakarim University, a training seminar was held for faculty and staff on issues of sustainable development and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This seminar was aimed at developing a common understanding of the principles of sustainable development, as well as developing practical skills for integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into the educational, research and management activities of the university. During the seminar, the head of the Center for Strategic Planning and Quality Management, Zhanar Orynkanova, reviewed modern approaches to sustainable development, the role of universities in achieving the SDGs, as well as issues of measuring and proving the contribution of educational organizations to socio-economic development.

Particular attention during the seminar was paid to the relationship between the daily activities of teachers - educational programs, scientific research, projects and initiatives - with sustainable development goals and specific indicators. The logic of the transition from individual activities to systemic and measurable results was explained to the participants in detail.

This training is part of the university’s comprehensive work aimed at creating a culture of sustainable development, improving the quality of strategic management and strengthening its position in the national and international educational space.

Shakarim University, systematically introducing the principles of sustainable development into its activities, considers them as an important tool for improving the quality of education, developing scientific research and building effective interaction with the region.
