Goal 1. No poverty
Shakarim University, recognizing its social responsibility to society, implements the following initiatives in support of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: No Poverty:
The University provides Shakarim Grants for full tuition coverage, and offers tuition fee discounts to students as well as to the children of university employees.
An annual support campaign is conducted to assist staff members in preparing first-grade children for the school year.
Assistance is provided to large families and orphans, including free accommodation in student residences for orphaned students.
The youth volunteer organization “Shäkärim Shuagy” is active within the University. The organization donates essential items (such as clothing and food) to families in need and participates in charitable campaigns held at regional and national levels.
All students have the opportunity to participate in Start-Up project competitions and internal grant programs, with the possibility of securing funding for the implementation of their project ideas. To support this, students take economics courses and participate in business plan development training.
Regular public lectures are held featuring successful professionals.
In the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for SDG 1: No Poverty, Shakarim University is ranked in the 1001+ category, reflecting an early stage in the systematic implementation of measures aimed at reducing poverty.
