The rector met with first-year students
At Shakarim University, the new academic year began with a meaningful meeting between Rector Duman Rymgalievich Orynbekov and first-year students who are just beginning their journey within the university. During an open conversation, the rector addressed young people who had crossed the threshold of the university for the first time and spoke about the opportunities that were opening up for them, as well as the importance of an active position, quality education and full participation in university life.
The meeting was held in the format of a free dialogue. Students had the opportunity to directly ask questions that interested them and discuss important aspects of academic and student life. The rector paid special attention to openness and a culture of dialogue as one of the key principles of modern society.
– One of the main requirements of modern society is openness. Speak openly, exchange opinions, do not hush up problems and look for ways to solve them together – important conditions for development. The university also strives to build just such open relationships between students and teachers, students and management, noted Duman Rymgalievich.
This year, 1,813 young people were enrolled in the full-time department of Shakarim University. Among them are – talented graduates of schools in the Abay region who graduated with honors “Altyn Belgi”.
Previously, 424 graduates of schools in the Abay region who received the sign “Altyn Belgi” were awarded certificates for the educational grant “Shakәrim”. This year, 74 young people became university students under this grant. This is an important initiative aimed at supporting talented youth in the region, creating conditions for receiving a quality education and building human resources that in the future will be able to contribute to the development of their native land.
The rector also noted that the opportunities for a modern student to receive education and professional development have expanded significantly today. A young specialist is no longer limited to one audience - the international educational space is open to him. One of the important tools in this direction is the academic mobility programs of Shakarim University. They allow students to study at foreign universities, gain new experience in their specialty, and expand their professional and cultural horizons.
The development of international cooperation at the university is also reflected in educational programs. This year, Shakarim University opened two new educational programs teaching in English. This is another step towards expanding students' access to international educational resources and creating opportunities for learning in a global academic environment.
The geography of Shakarim University students is also expanding. This year, 40 foreign students entered the university. The arrival of young people from different countries to study in Semey indicates the growing international recognition of the university and its active integration into the global educational space.
During the meeting, students were also told about the university’s services aimed at ensuring their safety, psychological comfort and well-being. In particular, if necessary, young people can contact a compliance officer and psychological service specialists. In addition, students were introduced to the possibilities of university libraries, co-working centers and other infrastructure, which helps not only to study, but also to develop, implement their own ideas and spend their free time meaningfully.
The rector urged first-year students to perceive the university not just as a place where they take classes and take exams, but as a space for discovering their own abilities, generating new ideas, professional growth and personal development.
During the meeting, students asked questions regarding the educational process, academic opportunities, support services, student initiatives and future prospects. Open and specific answers were given to each question, and the suggestions and opinions of young people were taken into account.
The first year is not only a period of adaptation to a new environment, but also an important stage when the foundation of a future professional path is laid. And an open dialogue between the student and the university from the first days of study becomes an important step towards the formation of an educational environment based on trust and mutual respect.
For Shakarim University, every new student is not just a student, but a future specialist who can contribute to the development of the region and the country. Therefore, one of the main tasks of the university is not only to provide young people with a quality education, but also to create conditions for their professional and personal growth, so that in the future they become in-demand specialists and contribute to the development of their native land.
