Privacy policy

Version of 2 November 2026

This policy explains what data the Shakarim University website collects, why it is needed, and what rights you have. It applies to shakarim.university. Platonus, Shakarim Hub, the admissions website, and the university’s social media pages follow their own rules.

Who processes the data

The personal data operator is the Non-profit Joint Stock Company “Shakarim University”.

What data we receive

Some data is information you enter yourself when you use the forms on the site.

An anonymous message is stored as the text of the message. That form does not ask for a name or contact details. If you want to stay anonymous, do not include details that could identify you. This does not guarantee full anonymity: as with any visit to the site, the IP address and technical request data are written to logs.

When you visit the site, the IP address, browser and device type, page address, and time of the request may be processed automatically. These details go into technical logs so the site can run and stay protected. A session identifier is needed for forms and the selected language to work. Your choice in the cookie notice is stored in the browser (localStorage, key cookiesAccepted) and is not sent to the university server as a separate record.

  • Public reception: name, email address, phone number (optional), and the text of the message.
  • News comment: name, email address, and the comment. A comment is published after review.
  • Website error report: the page address, a description, and an email address if you leave one.
  • AI-Sha chat: the text of the question and a technical dialogue identifier. The chat does not receive a name or email. The request goes to the university service at aisha.shakarim.edu.kz.

Why we use it

The data is used to reply to a message or a chat question, review and publish a comment, fix an error on a page, and protect forms from automated messages. Essential cookies and logs keep the site working and secure. Yandex Metrica helps us see which pages people open and where the site is difficult to use.

The grounds for processing are the data you submit through a form and the university’s duties under the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Personal Data and Their Protection”. In the message, comment, and error-report forms (if you give an email) you must tick the consent to data processing, otherwise the form is not sent. Yandex Metrica is turned on only after you press “Accept” in the notice at the bottom of the page. “Decline” keeps it off. The choice is stored in the browser.

Cookies and external services

The site uses essential session cookies. Without them, forms cannot be submitted and the selected language cannot be kept.

The live site loads a Yandex Metrica counter. It loads only after you agree in the cookie notice. It collects visit statistics: pages viewed, link clicks, a click map, and a session recording, so the site can be improved. The counter sets its own cookies. Metrica data is processed by Yandex, including on servers outside the Republic of Kazakhstan, so cross-border transfer is possible.

Some pages also load other external services. They may process technical data under their own rules: Google reCAPTCHA on message and comment forms; fonts and icons from Google and cdnjs; the Yandex map on the contacts page, only after you choose “Load map”.

Who receives the data

We do not sell personal data and do not pass it on for third-party advertising.

  • University staff who handle messages, comments, and error reports.
  • The AI-Sha service at aisha.shakarim.edu.kz — the question text and the dialogue identifier.
  • Google — to the extent reCAPTCHA processes data to check that a person sent the message.
  • Yandex (transfer outside the Republic of Kazakhstan is possible) — visit statistics through Metrica and, if you open the map, data from the map widget.
  • Public authorities — when the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan requires it.

How long we keep it

Error reports are deleted after 12 months. In public reception messages and questions to the rector, the name, email, and phone number are erased automatically after 3 years, and in news comments after 2 years; ID numbers, phone numbers, and emails in the text are masked. Technical site logs are kept for 14 days. You can reset your cookie choice in your browser settings: the banner then appears again. If you want your data deleted sooner, write to us (see “Your rights”).

Your rights

You can ask for information about the processing, and for your data to be corrected, blocked, or deleted. You can also withdraw consent where processing is based on it. Write to digital@shakarim.edu.kz or send a message to the university’s address. Say which form you used and which email address you left, so the record can be found.

If you believe your data was processed in breach of the law, you can contact the authorised body of the Republic of Kazakhstan for personal data protection — the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry.

Security

Messages are available to staff who need them for their work. Site pages are sent over HTTPS. Sending data over the internet is not absolutely secure, so do not send passwords, bank card details, or information that is not needed for a reply.

Changes

We will update this policy if the site’s forms or the law change. The new version is published on this page with the date of the update.
