Geodetic accuracy and team spirit of surveyors: international success of Shakarim University

The Shakarim University team adequately represented Kazakhstan at the International Olympiad in Geodesy in Novosibirsk

From May 19 to May 23, 2025, the X International Student Olympiad in Geodesy was held in Novosibirsk (RF), on the basis of the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies, in which 11 teams from leading universities in Russia and the CIS countries took part. Kazakhstan was worthily represented in this arena by the Shakarim University team, which brought together the strongest students of the educational program 6B07301 “Geodesy and Cartography”, participants of the scientific circle “Geostroy”.

Team composition: Nurali Tolegenov, Miras Mauken, Nurdaulet Aben, Almira Olzhabaeva, Mukhametali Zhumagazhinov.

The leaders and coaches of the team were senior teachers of the Department of Construction and Geodesy Zarina Beksultanova and Gulnur Seitkazina. They provided high-quality preparation and support at all stages of the Olympiad.

According to the results of a tense and exciting struggle among powerful participating universities, the Shakarim University team took 2nd place. The team's victory was marked with honorary awards:

Each team member was awarded a certificate for active participation in the X International Olympiad. The teachers received letters of gratitude for their contribution to the development of international student cooperation in the field of geodesy.

What does victory mean to us?

Of course, it is an indicator of the personal achievement of students, and, at the same time, it is an indicator of the systematic work of the Department of Construction and Geodesy, which today is at the stage of growth. Young, motivated teachers who are actively involved in scientific and educational activities work here. The department is headed by PhD Ilyas Zhumadilov, who has established himself as a leader of the new formation.

We would like to remind you that on May 28, the department opened two modern laboratories - a geotechnical laboratory and a laboratory of building materials, which are already actively used in the educational process, graduation projects and scientific research of students.

Participation in the Olympiad once again confirmed: Shakarim University creates international-level personnel, where students learn to win.
