As part of parliamentary hearings on the topic “Development of artificial intelligence in the Republic of Kazakhstan,” an exhibition of projects demonstrating various aspects of the use of AI was organized in the Mazhilis. This is reported by the correspondent of BAQ.KZ.

One of the most interesting exhibits was the AI Check project, an artificial intelligence agent developed at Shakarim University as part of the national AI-Sana program. The project was presented by 3rd year student Akhmet Kuanyshbekuly.

AICheck is an innovative academic verification system powered by artificial intelligence. Its main task is to determine the authenticity of student and diploma works, that is, to identify whether the work was written by a person independently or using artificial intelligence.

“The check is carried out in four main areas: text structure, logic, grammatical errors and the “human factor,” explained Akhmet Kuanyshbekuly. “For example, the system determines the percentage of “human contribution” to a specific work. If the work is written by a person, this figure is 75-80%. In texts generated by AI, this figure is much lower.”

The student also noted that the system recognizes special language markers and phrases characteristic of texts created by artificial intelligence.

"If the text uses structures such as 'firstly', 'secondly', 'furthermore', 'thus', 'therefore' too often, this indicates that the text was written using AI," he added.

The AICheck system operates in three languages and was developed in 9 months. It is currently being successfully used at Shakarim University. In the future, it is planned to be widely distributed among higher educational institutions throughout Kazakhstan.
