A laboratory for mastering digital production technologies was opened
The Digital Engineering Laboratory was opened at the Department of Automation and Information Technologies of the Higher School of Digital Technologies and Construction of Shakarim University.
The laboratory is equipped with modern technological equipment, in particular, 3D-scanner, 3D-printer and virtual laboratory programs, and licensed versions of KOMPAS-3D and SolidWorks programs for engineering modeling and design work are provided.
During the opening ceremony, university rector Duman Orynbekov emphasized the importance of the new laboratory.
-Equipping the laboratory with modern devices is an important step. However, it is more important to fill this space with qualified specialists, students who are eager for knowledge, that is, with human capital. Such laboratories provide a great opportunity to develop engineering competencies of students, to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, and to master new technologies. I hope that what you have started will be fruitful, and this laboratory will contribute to the professional formation of future engineers, - he said.
This laboratory is mainly intended for educational and research work of students of the educational program "Digital Technologies in Mechanical Engineering" and graduate students of the educational program "Machinery Engineering". Here, students learn modern digital production technologies, perform 3D scanning of parts, create digital models, prepare prototypes using additive technologies, and analyze their structural features.
Besides, the laboratory provides modeling of production processes, engineering calculations and the formation of skills for working with modern CAD/CAM/CAE systems through virtual laboratory complexes. This allows students to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, develop engineering thinking skills and train competitive specialists in the field of digital production in the future.
Rail Sovetbaev, Head of the Department of Automation and Information Technologies:
-Our goal in opening this laboratory is to increase the digital competence of students and undergraduates. There are 3D scanners, 3D printers and virtual laboratory complexes. Such virtual laboratories allow students to learn industrial processes in a safe environment. All this equipment is aimed at creating a favorable environment for students and developing their practical skills, - says.
The opening of the digital engineering laboratory is an important step towards the development of the scientific educational infrastructure of the university and the introduction of digital technologies in the field of mechanical engineering.
