An educational competition within the framework of "Clean Kazakhstan".
Today, 11th-grade students of general secondary schools in Abai region competed in the regional Olympiad "Eco-start" under the organization of the "Chemistry and Ecology" department at Shakarim University.
The main goal of the educational competition on the subject of ecology is to increase the interest of the young generation in natural sciences, to form scientific research skills, and to widely promote ecological culture. At the same time, one of the goals of the organizers is to cultivate a deep sense of patriotism based on a sympathetic approach to nature, and to develop an active attitude towards life.

Candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Lyubov Skripnikova emphasized the relevance of environmental protection. In his speech, he noted that nowadays environmental problems have become a common problem not only of one region, but of all mankind. Paying particular attention to the complex environmental conditions in Kazakhstan, he pointed out that the inflow of the Aral Sea has caused significant damage to natural balance, climate change, and public health.
Also, he noted the long-term effects of the tests in the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site on the environment and humanity, and said that its consequences are still being felt. He said that the effect of radiation not only on nature, but also on the health of several generations is a bitter lesson that shows how important environmental responsibility is.
While the students were competing in the educational competition, we spoke with the leaders of the participants - school teachers.
Miragul Akhmetzhanova, supervisor of secondary school student No. 8 Almas Ahmetkali, teacher of chemistry, emphasized her student's enthusiasm and determination for education. "If the child rides a horse, the mother will take care of it at home", the legitimacy of such achievements is clearly seen when the work of the teacher and the student's efforts are combined. There is every reason to believe that this Olympiad was not only an educational competition, but also an important event that turned nature conservation into a life principle.
