Scientific route from Semipalatinsk to Australia
An academic meeting on the topic "Modern research in mathematics: from education to science" was held at Shakarim University, organized by the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The guest of the meeting is Yerlan Nesipbayev, a graduate of the university, a researcher at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney) in Australia.
The academic meeting was attended by students and undergraduates of the department, teaching staff, as well as teachers who taught the scientist and veteran teachers.
During the meeting, current directions of modern mathematical research, features of scientific activity in the international academic environment, higher education in the USA and Australia, and international academic relations were discussed. experience in the environment and opportunities of young researchers in the field of science were discussed.
Yerlan Nesipbaev received higher education at Shakarim University and continued his academic research at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Later, he received a master's degree in mathematics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the United States, and defended his PhD degree at the University of New South Wales in Australia in 2025. Currently, Yerlan Nesipbaev works as a Research Associate at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Sydney, UNSW, in the research group of Professor Fedor Sukochev. He continues his scientific research in the areas of non-commutative analysis and operator theory.
Within the meeting, the participants exchanged opinions on the issues of choosing a scientific research direction, studying in foreign master's and PhD programs, establishing cooperation with international research groups, and developing an academic career.
The meeting allowed young researchers to get acquainted with international scientific experience and evaluate professional opportunities in the field of mathematics.
At the end of the meeting, Erasyl Dulatbay, Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation A commemorative copy of the Shakarim monument in front of the educational institution, which is considered a special symbol of Shakarim University, was presented to the graduate who is doing scientific work in Australia.
