Showed respect for students from Turkey
The main building of Shakarim University hosted a solemn award ceremony for the participants of the International Summer School “Discover Kazakhstan: Culture, Science and Friendship,” which united students from Turkey.
Note that the summer school, organized by the University’s Center for International Cooperation (headed by Shyryn Semeykhankyzy), was held for the first time. Over the course of a month, eight students of Pamukkale University (Denizli, Turkey) took part in a rich educational and cultural program, getting acquainted with the history, science, traditions and modern life of Kazakhstan.
Every day of the summer school was filled with interesting and educational activities. The program included lectures and meetings “Continuity of the Kazakh and Turkish languages”, “I am a master’s student at Shakarim University”, “Connections of Kazakh and Turkish literature”, as well as excursions to the State Historical-Cultural and Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve of Abay, the Nevzorov Family Museum of Fine Arts, the Literary and Memorial Museum of F. M. Dostoevsky, the City Historical and Local Lore Museum Semey and the island "Beibitshilik". All these events left Turkish students with vivid and unforgettable impressions.
The master class of the Department of Food Technology of Shakarim University “National Cuisine of Kazakhstan: Cooking Baursaks” aroused great interest, allowing participants to get acquainted with the traditions of Kazakh gastronomy. Students also enjoyed participating in intellectual and sports games such as chess and togyzkumalak, which was another step towards strengthening friendly ties between the youth of the two countries.
One of the most memorable events was a two-day trip (July 13–14) to the Karatumsyk archaeological complex. Here, foreign students got acquainted with archaeological excavations and gained valuable knowledge about the history of Abai’s native land. In addition, excursions were organized for them to the shared laboratory Shakarim Lab, the Engineering Center and the Agrotechnopark of the university, where they got acquainted with modern scientific developments and innovative achievements of the university.
Thus, the month-long International Summer School “Discover Kazakhstan: Culture, Science and Friendship”, which became another result of the strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey, was full of bright events, new knowledge and warm meetings. The time has come for the participants to return to their homeland, taking with them unforgettable impressions, new acquaintances and sincere love for Kazakhstan.
At the ceremony, Shakarim University Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Innovation Erasyl Altayuly thanked the students for their active participation in the program and expressed hope that they will continue to strengthen ties with Kazakhstan and the Abay region.
The head of the Center for International Cooperation, Shyryn Semeyhankyzy, presented all eight participants with certificates of successful completion of the summer school and memorable gifts, expressing sincere gratitude for their interest in the history, culture and educational potential of Kazakhstan.
