An informative meeting on the topic "Terrorism and extremism - the main threat of modern civilization" was held at Shakarim University.

The purpose of the event is to provide first-year students with an understanding of the prevention of terrorism and extremism, the influence of destructive religious currents, and compliance with safety requirements in everyday life. Daryn Sadykov, the head of the information and explanation department of the Religious Affairs Research Center of the Abay Region Department of Religious Affairs, took part in the meeting organized by the University's Situation management department. He gave a lecture to the students on the topic "The role of destructive religious trends in society and the basics of cyber security".

The expert spoke about the influence of destructive religious trends on the human mind, the threat they pose to the stability of society and the safety of citizens, and explained the importance of increasing the religious literacy of young people. He also emphasized the need to respect freedom of conscience and the right of choice of every citizen in the context of a secular state, to evaluate information critically and to be careful with materials of dubious religious content. The spread of false information on social networks, attempts to access personal data through dubious pages and links, and the risk of misleading citizens in the online space were mentioned. Students were advised to be careful when using the Internet, to check the source of information and not to spread dubious content.

In turn, the head of the Environmental Management Department, Serikzhan Kapanov, explained the issue of compliance with safety requirements in public places. He reminded that in case of finding a suspicious object in crowded areas, do not approach it, touch it and do not move it on your own. In such cases, it is necessary to move away to a safe place and call 102 or 112.

Such informative meetings are aimed at forming a safety culture of young people, increasing their religious and digital literacy, as well as preventing various threats. Creating a safe environment is a common task not only of state bodies and educational organizations, but also of every citizen.
