Shakarim University will host a volleyball tournament among graduates: the scale of participation and the unification of generations
Today, April 24, a volleyball tournament will take place at Shakarim University, which will unite graduates of different years, representatives of various educational areas and university staff. The event will be held on the basis of the sports complex (Kashagan St., 1) and will become part of systematic work to strengthen ties within the university community.
This is not just a sports meeting. This is an opportunity to gather in one space people for whom the university remains a point of support, regardless of year of graduation and professional path.
Scale of participation: teams, composition, involvement
The tournament will be attended by 6 teams formed on the principle of educational schools and graduate communities.
Among them:
team of the Higher School of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture
team of the Higher School of Sports and Natural Sciences
team of the School of Physics and Chemistry (including graduates from the region);
a united team of graduates from several schools of the university;
team of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communications.;
a team of graduates, formed from different areas of training.
A team of university employees will take part separately outside the competition.
In total, the tournament will bring together dozens of participants - graduates of different years (from the 1990s to the latest graduations), representing a wide range of professions: pedagogy, economics, engineering, veterinary medicine, natural sciences and other areas.
This makes the tournament both a local event and a full-fledged platform for communication, interaction and restoration of professional connections.
Format
The tournament will be held in an offline format using a round-robin system - each team will play against each other.
In the program:
registration of participants (17:00–17:30);
grand opening;
draw and explanation of rules;
game meetings;
final;
awarding the winners and closing the tournament.
As part of the opening ceremony, the following speakers will give a welcoming speech:
— Askar Bagdatovich Kasymov, Member of the Board - Vice-Rector for Strategy and Social Development;
— Abdikakimov Mukhtar Tynyshtykbekuly, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association.
Based on the results of the tournament, the winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd places) will be determined, and individual awards will be presented - the best player, forward and setter.
Role of the Alumni Association
A key role in organizing and conducting the tournament is played by the University Alumni Association - ShakarimAlumni.
The Association actively develops interaction between alumni and the university; professional connections (Alumni community); student support; implementation of public and social projects; organizing events that unite different generations.

Today the Association acts not only as an association of alumni, but also as a partner of the university, forming a living and sustainable community.
What is behind this event
The tournament shows that the university environment does not end with obtaining a diploma.
Connection is maintained through joint initiatives; professional interaction; events where people come together again.
Different faculties, different years of graduation, different professions, but one point of unification.
The upcoming tournament is a clear evidence of participation, the connection of generations, and the continuation of university history outside the classroom.
It provides an opportunity to meet years later, to feel part of a common space; to preserve and strengthen connections between graduates and the university.
And, of course, it provides the simplest, but very invaluable thing - live communication and team play!
