Shakarim University and Ege University develop scientific cooperation
The working visit of the Shakarim University delegation to Turkey continued at Ege University, located in the city of Izmir. During the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the two higher education institutions and the main directions of joint scientific and academic activities were determined.
The rector of Ege University, Professor Musa Alcı, and university representatives warmly welcomed the Shakarim University delegation. The meeting was aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries in the field of education and science, exchanging experience and implementing joint scientific initiatives.
Aegean University is one of the research universities in Turkey. Its structure includes 896 laboratories. In the QS World University Rankings, the university occupies a position in the range of 1001–1200. The developed research infrastructure and international experience of the university open up wide opportunities for expanding scientific partnership between the two universities.
During the meeting, the rector of Shakarim University Duman Orynbekov outlined the prospects for cooperation in the field of agricultural sciences, food engineering and bioengineering, and also proposed priority areas of joint work.
“The interconnected development of agricultural and technological research is important for our university. Scientific results in animal husbandry are closely related to issues of feeding, biological safety and product quality. In turn, food engineering covers the tasks of processing and storing these products, as well as ensuring their high-quality delivery to the consumer. Therefore, we propose to develop cooperation with the Ege University in several interrelated areas,” noted Duman Rymgalievich. He also proposed expanding scientific contacts in the field of food engineering and bioengineering, considering the possibility of organizing laboratory internships for undergraduates and doctoral students, scientific consulting and preparation of joint publications.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be research in the field of agriculture and livestock. In particular, it is planned to combine the scientific potential of the agrotechnopark and agricultural research areas of Shakarim University with the capabilities of the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as the departments of animal science and dairy technology of the Aegean University. Promising topics for joint research may include feeding and productivity of farm animals, the quality of dairy products, as well as the rational use of soil and plant resources.
Within the framework of academic cooperation, it is planned to develop the mobility of teachers and students, evaluate the compatibility of educational programs, and also consider the possibilities of creating joint educational modules and implementing double degree programs.
Prospects for interaction also cover the humanities. Establishing connections with the Institute for the Study of the Turkic World of Ege University will open up opportunities for the implementation of joint projects on the comparative study of Kazakh and Turkish literature, popularization of the heritage of Abay and Shakarim at the international level, development of translation and scientific study of cultural heritage. An important component of the academic partnership will also be the development of professional contacts between teachers of foreign languages.
The signed memorandum creates the basis for the systematic development of scientific and educational ties between the two universities, the exchange of research experience and the implementation of joint projects.
