A scientific and practical seminar was held at Shakarim University on the issues of processing goat milk and producing high-quality and popular products from it. The event was organized within the framework of the commercialization project DP23691258 “Waste-free production and processing of milk from Saanen goats using new technologies and starter cultures in the Abay region.”

The main goal of the seminar is to present modern technologies for processing goat milk, demonstrate the possibilities of producing safe and competitive dairy products, and also show the prospects for the development of small businesses based on the processing of local raw materials.

Participants took part in the scientific and practical event farmers, representatives of small businesses and trade enterprises, food industry specialists, aspiring entrepreneurs, scientists and students of Shakarim University.

Opening the seminar, science professor at Shakarim University Zhanar Kalibekkyzy noted the high nutritional and biological value of goat milk.

“Goat milk is a biologically valuable food product. It contains proteins, fats, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and antioxidant vitamins necessary for the human body. Therefore, the issues of processing goat milk are relevant today from both a scientific and production point of view. The purpose of today’s seminar is the exchange of experience between scientists, production specialists, entrepreneurs and students, as well as a discussion of modern methods of processing goat milk and new technologies developed by our scientists,” said Zhanar Kalibekkyzy.

Among the main speakers of the seminar are the director of the private institution “KazNISI” A. Oralkhanov, the head of the commercialization project Farida Smolnikova, associate professor, doctoral student of the department of “Veterinary Medicine” Shakarim University N. Taukebaeva.

During the seminar, participants discussed the current state of goat milk processing, the main trends in the development of the industry in Kazakhstan, the potential of livestock farming in the Abay region, as well as the possibilities of creating small-scale production facilities.

The project manager, associate professor of the Department of Food Technology at Shakarim University, Candidate of Technical Sciences Farida Smolnikova made a report on the topic “Processing goat milk in Kazakhstan: problems, development trends.” She spoke about the current state of goat farming in the country, the peculiarities of livestock farming in the Abay region and promising directions for further development of the industry.

Special attention during the event was paid to a comprehensive assessment of the quality and radiation safety of goat milk. This area is of particular importance from the point of view of ensuring the safety of agricultural products produced on the territory of the Semey test site.

The participants were presented with the “Kozy Korpesh” products, told about their features and possibilities of use for the development of small businesses. The practical part of the seminar ended with a tasting of goat milk products.

The scientific project includes the creation of a production base for a goat farm, the organization of the production of high-quality feed, the breeding of Saanen goats, the processing of manure to produce organic fertilizers, the launch of a milk and cheese production line, the selection of effective bacterial starters and technical quality control of finished products.

One of the key areas of the project is the promotion of finished products to domestic and foreign markets. The introduction of scientific developments into production will make it possible to more efficiently use the region's agricultural raw materials and create conditions for the development of new small industries.

Following the results of the seminar, participants received practical information about modern technologies for processing goat milk, requirements for the quality and safety of dairy products, the most popular types of products for small industries, as well as opportunities for introducing scientific developments into business activities.

The seminar at Shakarim University was another step in strengthening the interaction between science and production, as well as in promoting scientific developments aimed at the effective use of local raw materials and the development of the region’s processing industry.
