An open door to a special world
April 2 - As part of the World Autism Information Day, the "Open Door Day" was organized at the "Asyl Miras" autism center. The main goal of the event is to spread information about autism, to increase understanding and respect for people with special needs in society, as well as to create an inclusive culture.
Shakarim University actively participated in the event. "Brain Up" group of volunteers consisting of psychological support service of the university and students of the specialty of psychology presented meaningful programs for special children.
The art therapy event called "Paintings of the Invisible World" organized by volunteers was aimed at discovering children's creative abilities. Children had the opportunity to express their feelings and inner world freely through paints. This method greatly helped them understand their emotional state and express their thoughts.
Besides, body-adapted art therapy called "Emotions T-shirt" made a special impression. Children decorated white t-shirts using colorful paints with their palms. This process improved their sensory perception and gave them positive emotions.
During the event, the head of the autism center "Asyl Miras" Araylim Alimzhanova expressed her opinion:
"Today's open door day is attended by our partners - students of the pedagogy-psychology specialty of Shakarim University. While working with special children, we emphasize their abilities and develop them in a certain direction. At present, 6 programs are being implemented in the center, 98 children are coming regularly. This year, we have children who will prepare for the correctional class and enter school".
This event strengthened the relationship between society and special children, and clarified the importance of mutual understanding and support. Undoubtedly, such initiatives are one of the most important steps towards creating an inclusive society.
