An honest society is a shared responsibility

On the basis of Shakarim University, an open dialogue was held on the topic "Anti-corruption education and development of corporate culture: the role of compliance services".

The purpose of the event is to discuss the importance of education and training in the prevention of corruption, the issues of forming a corporate culture based on the principles of honesty and transparency in organizations, and the role of compliance services in this direction.

Marat Seilkhanov, vice-rector for strategy and social development of Shakarim University Askar Kasymov, representative of the Abay region branch of the republican public association "Renewal" national anti-corruption movement Nazigul Gazizova and specialists from other state bodies, higher education institutions and compliance services participated.

The event was attended by Abai Ruslan Sharipov, the head of the department for the region, spoke about the priority areas of anti-corruption policy implementation. According to him, the effectiveness of anti-corruption action contributes to strengthening citizens' trust in state institutions, ensuring social justice and supporting sustainable economic growth. The work in this direction is being carried out within the concept of the anti-corruption policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022-2026.

The head of the department noted among the main directions of the concept the issues of developing an anti-corruption culture, identifying corruption risks and improving mechanisms for their prevention, as well as ensuring the inevitability of punishment for violations. In addition, he paid attention to the issues of prevention of conflict of interests, increase of responsibility of legal entities, fight against domestic corruption and development of compliance system in organizations.

The Vice-Rector for Strategy and Social Development of Shakarim University Askar Kasymov, who took the floor next, emphasized the importance of starting the formation of principles of honesty from the educational stage. The vice-rector spoke about the "Academic Loyalty League" project implemented in the country and noted that Shakarim University is also a member of the organization. Membership of the League will widely propagate the values ​​of academic integrity to the university and pave the way for establishing the principles of justice and responsibility in the educational environment.

Nazigul Gazizova, in turn, said that the fight against corruption should not be considered only the responsibility of state bodies and law enforcement structures, but should be accepted as a common responsibility of every citizen. He says that in order to create an honest society, it is important to develop a corporate culture that does not accept corruption as a normal phenomenon and the activity of civil society in organizations. In addition, the speaker focused on the importance of the values ​​of conscience, honesty and responsibility in the life of society in Abay's "Tolky Adam" teaching. According to him, in order to prevent corruption, in addition to observing the requirements of the law, it is necessary to create a public environment and a strong corporate culture that does not accept it as a normal phenomenon.

In the next part of the meeting, a training seminar was organized for the officers of the compliance service of Abay region, and the issues of preventing corruption risks, improving the compliance system, and strengthening the principles of honesty and transparency in organizations were discussed. The main goal of the seminar is to increase the professional competence of specialists and improve the practice of effective use of anti-corruption mechanisms.

Major Marat Seilkhanov of the Department of Economic Investigation touched on the shadow side of artificial intelligence and the issue of droppers at the training seminar. He noted that along with the possibilities of modern technologies, the risks of using them for illegal purposes are also increasing. Marat Kudaibergenuly focused on such critical issues as fraudulent activities using artificial intelligence, complex methods of deceiving citizens, and new types of financial crimes. In this regard, citizens were invited to increase their financial literacy, not to trust dubious offers and protect their personal financial data.

During the seminar, compliance with the requirements of legislation in the field of public procurement and prevention of violations, the anti-corruption legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, duties of compliance officers in the direction of risk identification, prevention and control, as well as the prevention of corruption in higher educational institutions were considered. The importance of meeting the requirements in these directions, timely identification of possible risks and effective organization of preventive measures was explained to the participants.
