A decade that paved the way for innovation

The ten days of science organized on the occasion of the Day of Science Workers at Shakarim University have come to an end, and the results of the content period have been drawn.

In the framework of the decade, a series of large-scale scientific events were organized. In particular, about 20 events were held, including 3 international conferences, 2 scientific forums, scientific exhibitions, open lectures and expert sessions. In addition, the opening of two new scientific facilities clearly demonstrated the pace of development of university science. In general, about 3,000 people participated in these events and once again clarified the importance of science and education.

Rector of the university Duman Orynbekov, who spoke at the solemn meeting, congratulated the whole community on the Day of Science Workers: "This year's "Decade of Science" once again proved that our university is not only a place of education, but also a driver of the regional economy. "Today, 54 grant and program-targeted projects worth about 5 billion tenge are being implemented in our university. The most gratifying thing is that 70 percent of them have real applications. The amount of funding for science increased by 1.4 times compared to last year and reached 2.3 billion tenge. More than 500 people are involved in research, 51% of them are our young scientists. This is our future," he said.

In addition, the university's entry into the international scientific space was also highlighted. Recently, the scientific potential of the educational institution was presented at the international forum dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong University, a strategic partner in China. One of the most important news is Shakarim University becoming an official member of the higher education cooperation center of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Besides, the university will start a new ecosystem project in the direction of hydrogen production from waste in cooperation with scientists from Japan and Armenia within the framework of the International Scientific and Technical Center program. It is planned to allocate 250,000 dollars from Japan for this project.

At a ceremony held in Akorda on the eve of the Day of Science Workers, the vice-rector for strategy and social development of the university, young scientist Askar Kasymov was awarded the medal "For meritorious service" by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. This is not only a high appreciation of the scientist's achievements in research activities and contribution to the field of education, but also a great honor given to the science of the entire university.

In addition, a number of university scientists who contributed to the development of domestic science and higher education received awards from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In particular, Sholpan Abisheva, Aizat Mukataeva, Lazzat Gabdullina were awarded the badge "For contribution to the development of the mother tongue", Elmira Samekbayeva was awarded the badge "Akhmet Baitursynuly".

And Ermek Abilmazhinov, Gulnara Dzamanova and Zhibek Abylkasimova were awarded with the "Science Excellence" Honorary Diploma, Zulfia Semeyskaya, coordinator of the scientific and editorial department, was awarded with the "Shakarim University" medal.

Kairat Kabyshev, a teacher of the Department of Art, was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of Shakarim University". In addition, a number of employees received a certificate of honor and a letter of gratitude from the minister, as well as letters of gratitude from the rector of the university.

At the conclusion of the science decade, the winners in the nominations "Best young scientist", "Best graduate student", "Best scientific club" were determined and the best were honored.

This decade was a bright manifestation of science and education, research and innovation, cooperation and success.
