Malik Otarbaev, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan: “The ideas of the National Kurultai are reflected in the university environment”

As part of a working trip to the Abay region, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev held a meeting with the staff of Shakarim University. The main topic was the practical understanding of the principles voiced at the IV meeting of the National Kurultai, their application at the level of educational and research centers in the region.
Adviser to the Head of State got acquainted with the academic and cultural potential of the university. The beginning of the visit was marked by laying flowers at the monument to Shakarim and a visit to the museum, where rare documents, personal belongings and manuscripts of the great thinker are presented.
The teaching staff and young scientists presented the key areas of research implemented by the university: from historical and cultural heritage to artificial intelligence and agricultural technologies. Rector Duman Orynbekov emphasized that the initiatives of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, put forward within the framework of the National Kurultai, are systematically reflected in the educational and research agenda of Shakarim University.
In particular, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Social Development Askar Kasymov developed the idea of developing a three-level education in the field of nuclear energy, which was started at the university back in 1996. He also noted the launch of two new education programs following the 2022 referendum. Coordinator of the Center for Strategic Analysis Nazigul Gazizova emphasized the relationship between upbringing and education, quoting the words of the President: “Bilim men tarbie - egiz ғgym.”
The presentations on modern laboratories, educational infrastructure and international scientific projects, including initiatives in the field of AI and applied archeology, attracted special attention. Professor Mukhtarbek Karimov noted the importance of developing regional studies as a tool for strengthening historical consciousness.
Summarizing the visit, Malik Otarbaev outlined the importance of strengthening public culture, law and order and national unity. In addition, it was emphasized that government investments in the education sector, increasing salaries for teachers and supporting young researchers should be supported by a high level of internal motivation and intellectual discipline:

Context: The National Kurultai was established on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as a dialogue platform of a new format. Its goal is to unite the efforts of society in strengthening civic identity and a fair state.
