Conservation of water resources is a common task

An important republican eco-hour aimed at forming a culture of environmental responsibility and rational use of natural resources was held at Shakarim University. A large-scale event organized under the theme "Save water - save the future" was organized in higher educational institutions in all regions of the country. At the meeting for a broad discussion of the issue of water resources conservation, water specialists, representatives of state bodies and the university team gathered and raised urgent issues in the direction of ensuring water safety in the country, introducing water saving technologies and increasing the environmental awareness of young people.

In particular, the director of the Water Policy Department of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serikzhan Beketaev, the head of the Irtys Basin Water Inspectorate for the protection and use of water resources of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the head of the Irtys Basin Water Inspectorate, Serzhan Yesenamanov, etc. involved.

The coordinator of the event, Araylim Orazgalieva, the head of the Center for Social Support and Development of Youth at Shakarim University, first introduced the guests and noted that the goal of today's meeting is to create a culture of efficient use of water resources, increase environmental awareness, and widely promote the importance of water conservation.

The vice-rector for strategy and social development of the university Askar Kasymov, who received the first speech, spoke about the ongoing work in the field of environmental protection at the educational institution and said that this year the educational program 6B05202 - "Water resources and transboundary security" will be opened for applicants. It is clear that this, in turn, is a great opportunity to train a specialist who has mastered modern methods of water resources safety, effective use and protection of water.

"Water is not only an environmental issue, but also an important issue related to the country's sustainable development and security. As the head of state noted, efficient and careful use of water resources is one of the main priorities of the country's sustainable development. "Kazakhstan is one of the countries with limited water resources, therefore saving water is a common responsibility for the state, economy and every citizen," said Serikzhan Beketaev. Based on his words, special attention is now being paid to the introduction of modern water saving technologies in agriculture. In the field of industry, attention is being paid to the problem of efficient use of water. The new Water Code provides for the gradual introduction of circulation and secondary water supply systems in enterprises. Implementation of this requirement is calculated for 7 years. "This will allow to increase the share of water reuse to 28% by 2030," he says. In addition, 711 potential water sources were identified on the basis of "Kazhydrogeology" data, and more than 2,700 springs were mapped on the basis of archival materials.

The head of the Irtys Basin Water Inspectorate, Medet Zhadigeruly, in his report on the topic "Water is the basis of life, its preservation is a common task", focused extensively on the work being done in the direction of the protection and efficient use of water resources in the region. He emphasized the importance of introducing water-saving technologies, effective management of water sources, development of circulation and secondary water supply systems in the region.

Other participants who spoke during the meeting expressed their opinion that the problem of preserving water resources should become a daily habit of every citizen. This meeting within the framework of the republican eco-hour "Save water - save the future" increased the environmental literacy of students and made it possible to deeply understand the importance of taking responsibility for natural resources.

At the end of the event, teachers and students of Shakarim University, who actively participated in this initiative and contributed to the promotion of environmental culture, were awarded with a letter of thanks from the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
