Shakarim University Initiative on Digitalization of Agriculture
On September 17, a delegation from Shakarim University headed by board member, vice-rector for internationalization and innovation Dulatbay Erasyl Altaiyuly visited the Beskaragai district and met with the akim of the district.
The main topic of the meeting was the “Concept for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Beskaragay district of the Abay region for 2026–2032.” University representatives presented projects aimed at digitalizing the region’s agriculture.
The goal of the project is to involve the business community and agricultural producers in the process of digitalization of the agro-industrial complex. This will allow, by combining science and practice, to increase the efficiency of the industry.
The project involves the creation of a system for monitoring farmland in real time. It will cover a wide range of data - from climatic conditions and soil composition to crop yields and livestock conditions.
The implementation of the initiative will make the region more attractive for investment: interested parties will have access to up-to-date and expertly verified information about specific farms. Based on these data, university scientists will be able to introduce advanced methods and technologies, promptly correct vulnerabilities and increase the overall potential of the agricultural sector.
Beskaragai district will become a pilot site for the digitalization of agriculture in the Abay region. In the future, the university plans to expand the project by creating a national database for monitoring and recommendations throughout the country.
