Chronicle of Semey: personalities and moral lessons

On February 3, employees of the information and bibliographic department of the Central City Library held local history readings “Chronicle of the Native Land”, dedicated to significant and memorable dates of 2026.

The event was attended by an employee of the regional historical and local history museum Sadykova Shynar Muratovna, a writer, laureate of the international festival “Shabyt”, an employee of the State Museum-Reserve of Abay “Zhidebay-Borili” Kuat Kiykbay, a historian, museum specialist, curator of the “Shakarim Studies Scientific Center” fund of Shakarim University Gulnur Tortenova and library staff, as well as students of the Alikhan Bokeikhan University and the College of Transportation.

The library specialist noted that this year marks the anniversaries of many outstanding personalities, specially focused on the significance of the event, organized to promote the moral activities of these individuals for future generations, and also gave a brief overview of memorable dates and historical events.

Next, museum employee Kiykbai K.K. presented a detailed report on the topic “Leaders of Alashorda” and shared interesting information about the noble life path of Aniyar Moldabaev, one of our heroes, who actively participated in the Alash national liberation movement, whose name is rarely mentioned, as well as the heroic deeds of national intellectuals such as Mannan Turganbaev and Alimkhan Ermekov, active members of the Alash movement, united around the Alash idea and fought together for the future nations and the path to independence.

In honor of the 110th anniversary of the birth of one of the most significant anniversaries of this year, writer, playwright and researcher of Abai Kayum Mukhamedkhanuly, historian, museum specialist, curator of the funds of the Shakarimtanu Scientific Center at Shakarim University G. Sh. Tortenova spoke on the topic “Scientist. Hero. Personality" said that the scientist Kayum Mukhamedkhanuly considered the goal of his whole life to pass on the rich creative heritage of Abai to future generations and worked tirelessly along this path.

During the event, the librarian-bibliographer made a report on the 125th anniversary of the birth of the national poet, folklorist, composer, member of the Union of Writers of the USSR Shakir Abenov on the topic “Son of the Great Steppe”, sharing educational information and noting that, in addition to poetry, he was a person who made an immeasurable contribution to the Kazakh national musical art and the spiritual heritage of the ideas of Alash.

An employee of the historical and local history museum Toleubaeva A. M. made a report in honor of the 95th anniversary of the birth of the star of Kazakh music Beken Zhamakaev, on the topic “The King of the Kazakh Waltz”, saying that the composer wrote more than 70 songs, and also that he was the owner of a multifaceted talent, skillfully playing complex musical instruments, and then spoke about valuable documents, stored in the museum's collections.

A video prepared for the 2026 anniversaries was demonstrated, a thematic exhibition “Family Shezhiresi Cheese Shertedi” was organized and a bibliographic review was conducted.
