Winter School experience at Shakarim University
During the winter holidays, the faculty and staff of Shakarim University gathered at a significant platform for professional development - as part of the “Winter School”. This large-scale course, held on January 15-16, was organized on the topic “Update in education: professional transformation of teaching staff.”
In the digital age, the education system requires constant change and updating. In this regard, the “Winter School”, organized for university teachers, was aimed not only at discussing current problems in the field of education, but also at mastering new opportunities and effective practices. Over the course of two days, participants had the opportunity to comprehensively analyze transformation processes in the academic environment and improve the level of their professional competence.
The Winter School program, organized by the University's Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining, was very extensive and eventful. In the format of a public talk on the topic “The role of the department in the conditions of transformation,” the strategic importance of the departments and their new tasks were discussed. Within the framework of the methodological hub, the processes of formation, coordination and approval of educational and methodological complexes of disciplines (UMCD) in the Platonus digital educational environment were explained in detail.
During the educational intensive, the topic “Creating a transparent assessment system as a tool for creating a culture of honesty” was raised, within the framework of which the principles of fair assessment were discussed. In addition, the public talk on the topic “UN Sustainable Development Goals: from ideas to measurable results” was aimed at expanding the global horizons of participants and developing practical skills for integrating sustainable development goals into the educational, research and management activities of the university.
The scientific seminar “Managing scientific reputation: profile of a scientist, citations and publications on the SDGs” was devoted to the issues of increasing academic recognition and influence in the modern scientific space. During the workshop sessions, the possibilities of the integrated GPA system being implemented at Shakarim University and its importance in assessing the research and social competencies of students were also discussed.
Special attention was paid to the practical lesson on the topic “Teacher - University Ambassador: Modern Strategies for Promoting Educational Programs,” which allowed participants to better understand the role of the teacher in shaping the institutional image of the university.
The “Living Laboratory” format was of particular interest within the framework of the topic “Reverse mentoring: transformation of experience through dialogue”, aimed at creating a culture of mutual learning and exchange of experience. This format contributed to an open dialogue between young professionals and experienced teachers, creating space for the synthesis of different views and approaches.
In general, it can be noted that the “Winter School” course has become an effective platform for increasing the professional potential of teaching staff and has made a significant contribution to the development of the university’s human resources.
