In his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid special attention to the development of inclusive education, creating favorable conditions for children with special educational needs and reducing the shortage of specialists in this field. The President emphasized the need for systematic work to improve the relevant infrastructure, early identification of the special needs of children and provide them with access to quality education.
Today, supporting children with special educational needs is one of the most important tasks of the education system. Along with strengthening the material and technical base of educational organizations, the training of qualified teachers and specialized specialists, as well as increasing their professional competencies, is of particular importance.
Shakarim University systematically works to develop inclusive education and train specialists in demand in this field. At the beginning of the year, on the initiative of the rector of the university Duman Orynbekov, a Resource Center for the Development of Inclusive Education was opened in academic building No. 3.
The center’s activities are aimed at improving the professional training of future teachers, mastering the practices of inclusive education and developing skills in working with children with special educational needs. The center has an adapted learning space, a professional training room for inclusive practice, a psychological and pedagogical support room “Balance Space”, as well as resource rooms for inclusive education.
At the center, students consolidate their acquired knowledge in practice in such areas as speech therapy, special pedagogy, inclusive education and correctional and developmental pedagogy. In addition, specialized software, diagnostic tools and didactic materials are used to develop the sensory, communicative and cognitive abilities of children.
The created conditions not only help improve the professional competencies of future specialists, but also help them learn to take into account the individual characteristics and educational needs of each child.
In the context of the tasks outlined in the President’s Address, improving the inclusive educational environment, improving the quality of training of specialists and ensuring equal opportunities for education are of particular importance. The Shakarim University Resource Center is an important platform that combines the educational process and practical training of future specialists in this field.
