The renovated sports complex No. 1 of Shakarim University hosted the traditional opening ceremony of the Spartakiad. People gathered at the sports festival, which will be held among the faculty and staff, enthusiastically greeted the impressive parade of the university teams.
University Rector Duman Orynbekov made a congratulatory speech and paid special attention to the significance of the Spartakiad and the role of sports in society. In his speech, the rector noted that this event allows participants to increase the sense of cooperation and unity.
"Dear participants and guests! I sincerely congratulate you on the opening of the traditional Spartakiad. Sport is not only a guarantee of health, but also the basis of collective unity and strong spiritual connection. Our main goal is the widespread promotion of a healthy lifestyle, improving the health and quality of life of every citizen through the development of mass sports, as well as strengthening friendship and cooperation within the team," said the rector.
The following congratulatory speech was addressed to veteran teacher Batiliya Ermenova, who worked hard at Shakarim University for many years and dedicated her adult life to the education of the younger generation. In her speech, the veteran teacher said that the work done today is a good start for the future, and emphasized that this is a long journey that will remain for the future generation.
According to veteran teacher Anatoly Sidelnikov, this sports complex was built 46 years ago by the joint work of students and residents of the city of Semey.
"More than 20 percent of the construction work was carried out by students of the branch of the Zhambyl Technological Institute of Light and Food Industry in Semey. When the builders were erecting the building, we helped as much as we could. In September 1980, the pool was put into operation, and city, regional, republican and even in 1982 all-Union level competitions were held in this complex. At that time, it was the only complex in the region, who provided services in the field of physical education. I am very surprised to see the updated version today. The renovation work was carried out efficiently, I am pleased with the renovation of the complex,” he said.
One of the important and historical moments of the event was the opening of the swimming pool, which had not been used for many years and underwent a major renovation in 2025. The swimming pool with a total area of 25x14 meters will be modernized in accordance with modern requirements and will serve the benefit of the university community and city residents in the future.
After the ceremonial part, special games were organized among sports veterans. The audience was presented with competitive programs. These moments once again proved that sport is not only for young people: health and an active lifestyle are always important.
It should be noted that within the framework of the three-week Olympics, participants will compete with each other in sports such as mini-football, volleyball, streetball, table tennis, chess, weightlifting, arm wrestling, toghumalak, swimming and cross-country skiing. These competitions will not only increase the activity of team members, but will also become a vibrant sports festival that will strengthen cohesion and solidarity.
