Science Bridge is a new step in science for young researchers
The forum "Science Bridge: from school walls to science" has come to an end at Shakarim University. For one month, university professors and school pupils and students worked together on projects based on scientific research and experience. This initiative, strengthening the connection between school and higher education, opened a new opportunity for the development of research abilities of the younger generation.
Within the framework of the forum, the participants studied relevant scientific topics in various directions and conducted practical work. For example, the project "Chemical composition of drinking water in the city of Semey" was aimed at differentiating the ecological situation and quality of drinking water in the region, while the topic "Isolation of DNA from polyploid fruits and the study of the effect of polyploidy on the amount of DNA" showed the importance of research in the field of biotechnology and genetics. In addition, the educational projects "Learning English with the help of cartoons" and "Using artificial intelligence tools in learning English: a comparative study of the experiences and attitudes of high school students and first-year university students" proved the effectiveness of modern technologies in the educational process.
During the forum, students not only learned the methods of scientific research, but also practiced and mastered important skills such as data analysis and protection of results. Students and teachers of the university guided young researchers and supported them in turning their ideas into real projects.
At the same time, we will introduce several projects in more detail. The work of Alina Sayakhmetova, a student of Toleubai Amanov Secondary School No. 16, at the Engineering Center of Shakarim University was devoted to the study of the effect of ion-plasma nitriding temperature on the properties of the steel surface. Alina and her colleagues determined microhardness, roughness, corrosion resistance and microstructural changes of the surface layer using different temperature regimes. During this work, they got acquainted with modern devices and gained scientific experience. According to Alina, these devices made it possible to increase the accuracy and reliability of research. With their help, the results of each temperature regime were analyzed in detail, and the changes in the surface layer of the steel were accurately identified.
Students of general secondary school No. 26 implemented the project "Plant growth modeling in educational 2D simulation". Schoolchildren, students and scientists worked together in a case project on two-dimensional (2D) modeling of plant growth. They studied the stages of plant development and considered ways to represent growth dynamics using a two-dimensional graphic model.
Besides, the project titled "Autonomous smart greenhouse complex programmed on the Arduino platform: modeling and simulation of the growth of garden crops" presented by Kalibek Amina, Marzhan Amanzhankovy, Alikhan Rahimbekov attracted great interest. An Arduino-based smart greenhouse aims to automate agriculture by creating favorable conditions for plant growth. The project has innovative features such as resource saving, cost reduction, integration of Internet technologies.
The conducted experiments contributed to students' deeper understanding of the intricacies of scientific research and increased their motivation to continue their work in this direction in the future.
A committee of university scientists evaluated the works of the participants of the "Science Bridge: from school walls to science" forum.
By the decision of the commission, the project "Investigation of the effect of ion-plasma nitriding temperature on the hardness of the steel surface" was recognized as worthy of the first place, while the project "Investigation of the effect of the parameters of the melt coating mode and heat transfer on the formation of the coated layer" was awarded the second place. And the third place was taken by young researchers of the project "Autonomous smart greenhouse complex programmed on the Arduino platform: modeling and simulation of the growth of garden crops".
Forum "Science Bridge" is the first solid step taken by young students in the world of science. This project was distinguished as an important initiative that opens the potential of students interested in science and paves the way for the formation of future researchers and scientists.
