Shakarim University is a gathering of global education leaders

Rector of Shakarim University, Duman Orynbekov, is participating in international events held on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong University in the People's Republic of China.

The large-scale gathering, which will take place on April 6-9, brings together leading representatives of the world academic space. As part of the program, a forum of world-class university presidents, the III international exhibition on the theme "World Class University Expo", a meeting of the executive board of the Alliance of Silk Road Universities (UASR), as well as a ceremony dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong University will be held.

At this international meeting, topical topics such as the importance of higher education in global governance, the impact of artificial intelligence on the higher education system, as well as effective ways to train future specialists in the context of globalization became the focus of conversation.

At the gathering of prestigious educational institutions of the world, the rector of Shakarim University Duman Orynbekov gave a report and presented his point of view about the transformations in the modern higher education system, the integration of science and education, and the place of regional universities in global processes.

These events not only define common positions in the development of global higher education, but also give a fresh impetus to the strengthening of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Chinese higher education institutions, and the joint implementation of new scientific and educational initiatives.

Good news - Shakarim University has officially become a member of the China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization Center for Higher Education Cooperation. It is clear that this step will expand the university's international cooperation and raise its capabilities in the field of education and science to a new level.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the 130th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong University!

I would like to say that it is a great honor for me to present my thoughts and exchange opinions in front of you today as the rector of Shakarim University on the topic "The way to train future personnel".

This topic is always important. Because now the world is facing rapid changes. In particular, digital transformation and global development are taking place very rapidly. The "One Belt One Road" joint-purpose program has a unique symbolism that creates a new space for cooperation in the field of international science and education.

On this occasion, I would like to introduce the period of formation of our university. Shakarim University, which began in 1934 and has a history of almost a century, is becoming a multidisciplinary scientific educational center. Today, the educational scope of the university includes all levels of education, from elementary school to doctoral studies.

Our main task is to train not only highly qualified specialists, but also well-rounded individuals who have absorbed national values, are ready for global challenges.

Today, more than 7,000 students are studying at Shakarim University, from the fields of engineering and agriculture to digital technologies and pedagogy. The university is also intensively developing research schools, research centers and engineering infrastructure, creating an ecosystem for training the next generation of professionals.

The main element of this ecosystem is closely related to international cooperation.

On this occasion, our university implements joint projects and programs with more than 20 countries. In this system, our strategic partner Xi'an Jiaotong University has a special place.

This partnership goes far beyond academic mobility. It includes joint scientific research, technology transfer, a new model of engineering and scientific personnel training.

I would like to emphasize that Xi'an Jiaotong University was the initiator and technological partner of the China-Kazakhstan joint laboratory on electrification and automation at Shakarim University.

"Shakarim" Kazakh-Chinese cultural research center is an important initiative that defines trust and spiritual connection between Kazakhstan and China.

It is in harmony with the spirit of the "One Belt One Road" initiative proposed by the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and the national strategy of human capital and educational culture announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Here, within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, graduates from leading Chinese universities play an important role. Today, they have returned to work at Shakarim University and are contributing to the development of the educational institution. Such qualified specialists ensure the transfer of knowledge and technology, form new methods of education and research. This is, of course, a positive result of the strategic partnership between the two countries. For that purpose, I can confidently say that we can reach the next stage of cooperation - creation of joint innovation centers, international research funds.
