The game of chess plays an important role in strengthening a child's intellectual ability and developing his thinking. It is gratifying that chess clubs and classrooms have been opened in educational centers of the country, and even teaching as a secondary subject in primary classes has been started. According to legends, it is said that chess first appeared in 2-3 thousand years before our era. The black and white pieces in this game, which originated in ancient India, have, as they are aptly named, gaits. The game is also interesting. Another amazing feature is the non-repeatability of the game.

The head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized this type of sport: "Chess is a great art. Therefore, it is necessary to practice chess daily, carefully, reading special books. In recent years, on the initiative of the President, much attention has been paid to the game of mass chess, and its promotion has been given the highest priority.

On this occasion, the republican conference "Chess in Education" was held in the main building of Shakarim University. The event was attended by the employees of the Abay Oblast Department of Education and heads of methodical centers, school principals, deputy directors of educational affairs responsible for primary classes, and primary school teachers.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Bakytzhan Khavdesuly, the head of the Abai regional branch of the Chess Federation, noted that the number of school-age children interested in this sport has increased, and the names of young winners have become the pride of schools every year, and wished success to the participants of the conference.

Shakarim University vice-rector for academic affairs Beimbet Darbayev said that he has been interested in chess since his childhood and emphasized that every child who learns the game gradually increases his desire to win. As a proof of this, he noted that when he plays chess with his children in the evening, his mastery of chess improves year by year, and the fact that the game is included in the school curriculum is a good start for the child's future.

According to Tolkyn Azbergenova, deputy director for educational work and elementary school teacher of "Ibyray Altynsarin Gymnasium No. 37", who gave a report on "Chess in education: introduction to primary classes", this educational institution is equipped with a special modern chess room. The office is aesthetically decorated to increase children's interest in the game, and is fully equipped with the necessary visual aids, demonstration boards and quality chess sets.

- The chess club is also working regularly in the gymnasium. The club is held twice a week. Now 40 students participate in the club. Students participated in the tournament for the qualification category held by the Chess Federation of Abay region. Among them, Asylbek Maratov, a 4th-grade student of our gymnasium, defended the 4th grade and showed excellent results. Chess lessons are regularly held once a week according to the lesson schedule. Even if it's only one hour a week, the benefits of this time for children are enormous. In this short time, we noticed the following positive changes in students. In particular, students' logical thinking abilities developed. The speed of solving problems in mathematics and natural sciences has increased. Chess teaches you to answer for each move. Children understand that their decisions have consequences and learn to be responsible. Another thing is that you can see the difference in the level of development in basic subjects and skills between students who play chess regularly and students who don't play chess,- says Tolkyn Tokhtalenganovyna.

After that, the teachers who took the floor discussed widely that chess is systematically included in the curriculum, plays an important role in improving the student's ability, and shared their opinions. Later built schools have special chess rooms. However, the need to consider ways to solve this problem is on the agenda in old schools with a lack of classrooms.

At the end of the conference, the participants were presented with certificates and honored.
