"The Golden Horde is the golden pillar of the Great Steppe civilization" - the Head of State

Today, the international symposium "Golden Horde - an example of field civilization: history, archeology, culture, uniqueness" began in the Palace of Independence in Astana.

According to the press service of Akorda, delegations from more than 20 countries of the world are participating in the event. Among them are historians-medievalists, archaeologists, Orientalists, Turkologists, Mongolologists, numismatists, epigraphic specialists, political scientists, cultural scientists, art historians, diplomats and representatives of international organizations.

The head of state expressed gratitude to the participants of the international symposium on the history of the Golden Horde.

"No historian doubts that the Golden Horde was a powerful empire that freely grazed the vast territory of Eurasia and ruled on the Great Steppe, this is a recognized historical fact.

The Golden Horde was a very large political structure that connected the West and the East and had a special influence on the development of various civilizations and the formation of states. This is also a proven fact. Therefore, it is clear that the history of the Golden Horde was based on many fundamental studies.

However, this topic still has not lost its relevance, I think it will never lose it", - said the President of the country

In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the UNESCO leadership for supporting important projects of the country.

- This is a very important issue for the annals of the nation and the history of the world. We should continue the systematic and comprehensive study of this topic in cooperation with the international scientific community. This is the main goal of the event lasting several days. At this point, I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of UNESCO for supporting the initiative of Kazakhstan. I am grateful to Mrs. Audre Azoulay, the former Director General of UNESCO, who is participating in this forum.

You made a great contribution to strengthening the partnership between Kazakhstan and UNESCO. The holding of the symposium in the framework of such a prestigious global organization shows that the legacy of the Golden Horde has a great significance on a global scale. A delegation led by Mr. Elundu Assomo Lazar, a high-level representative of UNESCO, director of the World Heritage Center, is participating in today's gathering, he said.

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev informed about the achievements of our country with the support of UNESCO. In particular, the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmet Yasawi, the Tamgaly stone petroglyphs, and the inclusion of several ancient cities in the list of world heritage sites are clear examples of this partnership.

In addition, he noted that extensive work has been done in the direction of glorifying the intangible cultural heritage of Kazakhstan. Last year, the recognition of the unique manuscript "Chronicle of Khans" at the world level is a vivid proof of this. This document contains valuable information about the rulers of the country, including the period of the Golden Horde.

- In addition, extensive work was carried out in the direction of glorifying the intangible cultural heritage of our nation. For example, only last year, a unique manuscript called "Khans Chronicle" was recognized at the world level. This is a valuable document that collects information about the rulers of the country, including the period of the Golden Horde. Therefore, we are interested in further development of our relationship. This is a mutually beneficial and important matter, - said the Head of State.

The President emphasized that further development of this relationship is mutually beneficial and important. This partnership allows to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan, as well as to contribute to world science and culture.

Speaking in front of historians, researchers-scientists, the head of state proposed a comprehensive study of the economic structure of the Golden Horde.

"As we all know, the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, and India were mostly formed by developing river valleys. And the Great Plain went through a completely different historical development path.

Five thousand years ago, humans domesticated horses for the first time in Botai, which is located in the north of present-day Kazakhstan. It was an event that gave a completely new character to world history.

Along with the culture of horse-riding, strategic thinking and a comfortable way of life appeared in steppe civilization.

Thus, the Golden Horde controlled all the main transport, trade and humanitarian connections in the vast steppes of Eurasia and rose to the highest peak of horse-nomadic civilization.

In this regard, there is every reason to say that the combination of nomadic and sedentary lifestyles was the only reason why the Golden Horde appeared on the stage of history.

Ultimately, the Golden Horde was formed as a country with a stable currency and tax system and a developed economy through the development of nomadic life, craft culture and trade routes in the city, said the president.

The head of state emphasized the need to deeply study the history of the Golden Horde not only from a military or political point of view, but also its civilizational, cultural and spiritual significance.

I am not a historian-scientist studying ancient times like you.

This is only an orientation that helps to expand the scope of research in this direction.

Zhochi Ulysi had a rich intellectual and spiritual tradition, effective management institutions and a developed economy. It is important to fully reveal the secrets of this giant civilization.

This is necessary to re-examine the past from a scientific point of view, as well as to deeply understand the origin of statehood, uniqueness and common history of the peoples of Central Eurasia", - said K. Tokayev.
